Your PWZ learning will include:
- Identify workplace hazards
- Undertake risk management
- Prepare Traffic Management Plans (TMP) and Traffic Guidance Schemes (TGS)
- Introductory software training using "Rapid Plan" to draw TMP/TGS
- If you require a more intensive software training, please inquire about our one day non-accredited Rapid Plan training
Your learning outcomes will provide you with the skills and knowledge required to:
- Prepare a work zone traffic management plan (TMP)
- Collect all required information about a given roadwork project to enable the preparation of a TGS/TMP
- Design, Draw, Select & Modify a TGS/TMP
- Determine the recommended spacing between signs and traffic control devices
- Incorporate environmental management plans
- Identify any unexpected hazards/risks
- Identify approvals required
- Understand speed, environment, type and class of vehicles, traffic density, sight lines, environmental condition, weather patterns and surface type
- Monitor and interpret control systems to apply to the drawing
- Follow local legislation
- Use the site/location assessment, distinguish topographical landmarks and carry out authorised risk control
- Collate traffic volume data
- Determine lane capacity, road network performance and lane closure restrictions
- Identify impacts from any concurrent or adjacent works
- Identify times and dates of any planned public events that may result in increased or redistributed traffic patterns
- Identify affected stakeholders and type of notification required and prepare notifications
- Calculate costings for TMP development and implementation

PWZ Course requirements:
- 17 years of age
- 100 points of Original ID including 1 Photo ID on the day (download flyer below for ID Checklist) You will not be allowed to commence the Course if you cannot provide acceptable ID documents. No exceptions
- Unique Student Identifier (USI) Number. Go to www.usi.gov.au to register
- Intermediate computer skills are essential. You will be required to successfully complete an on-line digital literacy test with your enrolment. All assessment tasks are completed electronically on our e-learning platform.
- You will be provided with access to a laptop and RapidPlan software for the Course duration.

Description
Traffic Management Plan Designer (PWZ)
If you are currently working in the Traffic Control industry and wish to advance your career, this course is for you.
This course does not qualify a participant to control traffic (traffic controller) with a stop/slow bat or boom gate, or set up work with traffic control plans. Click here for Traffic Controller training, and here for Traffic Management Implementer training.
To obtain a SafeWork NSW Traffic Control Work Training (TCWT) card, training and assessment must be carried out by a SafeWork NSW approved training provider. DTC Training is a SafeWork NSW approved training provider.

On successful completion of this Course you will receive a Statement of Attainment for the nationally recognised units below, and a SafeWork NSW Traffic Control Work Training Card.
